We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Dr Ian Hine, founding Friend and Life Patron of The Courtyard.
As a Founding Friend and Life Patron, Ian was a keen supporter of The Courtyard over the 25 years of its existence. Ian served as a member of The Courtyard Board for many years, and remained as a trustee. He enjoyed classical music, jazz, drama and many other performances with Anne. The above photograph was taken at the guest night for The Courtyard’s pantomime, Beauty & The Beast in 2015.
Ian Hine was born in Blackpool in 1943 and educated at Kent College, Canterbury. He qualified in medicine at Guy’s Hospital in London and went on to specialise in anaesthetics and the management of chronic pain. Arriving in Hereford in 1975 with his wife, Anne, he was the first consultant to run the intensive care unit at Hereford County Hospital. He was a JP for a number of years and was appointed chairman of the local Bench for Herefordshire in 2003. He was involved in many organisations, including Hereford Cathedral, Wye Valley Rotary Club and was a founder and President of Herefordshire Fine Wine Society.
Everyone at The Courtyard extends their deepest sympathies to his wife, Anne and Ian’s family and friends.
