Year 9 recently took part in the 3 Counties Youth Theatre festival where they took part in workshops and performed on the amazing Cheltenham Everyman main stage.

We had spent the last few weeks choosing, directing a rehearsing scripts from some of our favourite plays and musicals. On the bus ride journey up you could hear people practicing lines from Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, Blood Brothers and The Addam’s Family.

Throughout the day excitement was mounting to perform on the main stage, underneath the grand proscenium arch.

But before that there was great fun to be had in workshops that covered movement, scripts and voice. One member said “it was great being able to work with different practitioners and learn new skills!”

The it was time for the performance and everyone brought their A game! Courtyard kicked things off and wowed with their scripted pieces and were rewarded by a huge round of applause by the other youth theatre’s. It was also fantastic watching the brilliant pieces by Worcester and Cheltenham which were both highly creative and original. One member said “It was amazing to see what other youth theatre’s are doing and performing.”

The day ended with a huge group improvisation game that everyone from all youth theatre’s working together and in fits of laughter. The journey home was filled with chat about how enjoyable and enriching the day had been. We can’t wait to host 3 Counties Youth Theatre Festival next year!
